Written for the Green Media issue on the impact of artificial intelligence, which carried thirty opinion pieces. AI reaches restaurants along three fronts: consumer experience (personalised recommendations, allergens, booking management), operations (demand forecasting, supply chain, inventory, staff scheduling) and empowering the restaurant itself (advanced feedback analysis through DIG-IN BIZ). Every restaurant is different and should pick the approaches that fit its own business.

Integrating learning support platforms with the academic information systems of the University of Lisbon

Two platforms with different goals serving the same people: SiGES, the academic management system, and Moodle, the learning platform, run side by side across the University of Lisbon's schools. The dissertation removes the duplicated data and the consistency problems between them using web services, and leaves behind a model that makes further automation between the two systems straightforward.
